7 Ways to Get Glowing Skin This Winter
When winter hits, it feels as though all of your skin’s glow
has been sucked right out of it! As the weather becomes colder and windier,
your skin becomes duller and drier, and you may feel like you’ve lost all the
natural beauty that you had during the summer months. But don’t worry — there
are some simple steps you can take to get glowing skin even in the winter
months! Check out these seven tips on how to get glowing skin this winter!
1) How to Use Self-Tanner
The reality is that we all get paler during winter and our
self-tanner fades. The trick is making your skin look more sun-kissed in the
few weeks of winter that you have.
1. Be consistent with your self-tanner application: Apply it
every week, even if it's just for a couple of days. If you apply it every day
for about two weeks, you should notice a difference!
2) Facial at Home Exfoliation
Exfoliating your skin is one of the best ways to maintain a
healthy glow in the winter. Exfoliation removes the dead cells that make your
skin dull and can make breakouts more likely. Try this easy 3-step process at
home:
1) Mix sugar with honey or yogurt until you get a paste. You
don't need much honey or yogurt, as it's just there for moisture and
stickiness. 2) Spread the paste over your face and leave on for 10 minutes. 3)
Rinse off with warm water and pat dry with a towel. The exfoliated skin will
look brighter, smoother, and healthier immediately!
3) Moisturize and Hydrate
The cold, dry air of winter can cause the skin on your face
and hands to become more dry and flaky than in warmer months. Protect your skin
from the elements with a daily moisturizer containing broad spectrum SPF 30. If
you're wearing makeup, make sure it contains SPF 30 as well. And don't forget
about lips! A good lip balm will protect against both sun and wind exposure and
is essential for keeping your pout healthy through the season.
4) Drink Green Tea
Green tea is a natural antioxidant that promotes healthy
skin. Drink it hot or cold throughout the day, and enjoy its many benefits!
#1: It can help you lose weight.
Studies have shown that green tea can increase your
metabolism and reduce your appetite. By consuming this drink, you may be able
to keep a healthy weight while still enjoying tasty treats here and there.
#2: It helps protect against cancer.
Green tea has been linked with reduced rates of certain
cancers, including colon, stomach, esophageal, prostate, and breast cancer. The
antioxidants are thought to work by stopping free radicals from damaging cells
in the body.
#3: It helps prevent heart disease.
5) Do a Korean Skincare Routine
I've had a lot of success with Korean skincare routines in
the past, so I'm going to share my 7 favorite tips for getting glowing skin
this winter.
1) Drink Lots of Water - Drinking lots of water can help your body fight against dryness and also flush out toxins that are released when you're sick or feel under the weather.
2) Use an Exfoliating Mask Every Few Days - You should use an exfoliating mask every few days because it removes dead skin cells from the surface and brings fresh new ones up from underneath.
3) Eat Healthy Fats - Eating healthy fats like avocado and olive oil is
important because they keep your skin looking hydrated.
6) Invest in Serums and Creams
1) Invest in serums and creams. Apply a rich moisturizer and
serum after cleansing in the morning and before bed. The key is to apply a good
moisturizer that includes ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, or
retinol.
2) Use an effective makeup remover. If you wear makeup on a daily basis, invest in some quality makeup removers that will not irritate your skin like olive oil or coconut oil.
3) Exfoliate often! Exfoliating will remove
dead skin cells and allow your skin's natural oils to seep through the top
layer of your epidermis more effectively.
7) Wear Sunscreen (Even in Winter)
It might seem counterintuitive, but wearing sunscreen every
day is one of the most important things you can do for your skin. Sunscreen not
only blocks UVB rays and sunburns but UVA rays which can lead to aging or
other harmful effects. If you wear sunscreen daily, your skin will be less
likely to age prematurely or develop dark spots. It's also a great way to
prevent peeling and cracking that can happen during dry winter months.
